Glera

About this grape variety

Glera is the white grape behind Prosecco, the world's most widely consumed sparkling wine after Cava. The grape produces fresh, lightly aromatic, fruit-forward wines with apple, pear and floral notes, made sparkling via the tank (Charmat) method. The hills of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene DOCG yield the highest-quality expressions, while the broader Prosecco DOC includes wide swaths of the Veneto and Friuli flatland.
