A rich, full-bodied northern Rhône white grape, Marsanne is often blended with Roussanne in white Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph. The grape produces wines of moderate acidity, pear, quince, almond and honeyed aromatics, and a textured, slightly waxy palate. Marsanne handles oak well and can age 10–20 years from top sites. Also planted significantly in Australia's Goulburn Valley.
