Very few producers—especially in Madeira wine—experience a revolution in their history as dramatic as what happened with Barbeito. Turning from a bulk wine supplier into a benchmark for the Madeira wine region is a remarkable achievement. It all began in 1991 when Ricardo Freitas joined the family business and, together with his Japanese partners Kinoshita, decided to make Barbeito one of the most important producers of Madeira wine.
