In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the trade of cereals. Later, in 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation, they distinguished themselves by the rigor and expertise they devoted to Port, elevating the Burmester name to the highest level of quality and international recognition. Burmester can be seen as a harvest specialist, with magnificent vintages at its disposal that it regularly releases. Still, its Vintage Ports are of excellent quality, shining in exceptional years. At the end of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to immortalise brands created five centuries ago.
