Very few producers, especially in Madeira wine, have experienced a revolution as significant as the one that took place with Barbeito. To go from supplying bulk wine to suddenly becoming a reference in the Madeira wine region is an achievement. Everything happened in 1991 when Ricardo Freitas joined the family business and, together with the Japanese Kinoshita partners, decided to turn Barbeito into one of the most important producers of Madeira wine.
