The company was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who managed the business until 1973. Even today, the administration of Caves Messias is ensured by descendants of the Messias family. Since its founding, Messias has produced and marketed wines from the main demarcated regions: Dão, Bairrada, Douro, Vinho Verde, Beiras, and Port.
