In Portugal’s wine landscape, no producer is more well‑known than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in the country. He entered the Port wine market as a trader and quickly established a business that would prove prosperous and enduring. In the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a pivotal figure in the wine world, recognized as one of the most important personalities who has worked, and continues to work, for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and better understand their vineyards, while also building his own legacy alongside those who continually create bold, unconventional wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort is involved in many other projects across virtually all Portuguese wine regions and several international ones. The bottling year may not correspond to the image shown.
