The Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most renowned estates in the Douro, stands out for having been among the first to bottle its own branded wines. The name of this estate has been referenced since 17 April 1738, when a dated document first mentions the “Quinta da Pacheca,” because its owner was D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. However, it was only in 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing interest in oenology, purchasing the property with the aim of dedicating himself to viticulture. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family takes over the estate’s management: Maria, Catarina, and José are the young faces of this family‑centric company.
