In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the grain trade. Later, in 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation, they distinguished themselves with the rigor and expertise devoted to Port, raising the Burmester name to the highest levels of quality and international recognition. Burmester is considered a specialist in harvests, boasting magnificent crops that it regularly releases. Yet its Vintage Ports remain of excellent quality, showcasing their splendour in outstanding vintage years. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to immortalise brands created five centuries ago.
