In the national wine panorama there is no more consensual producer than Niepoort, and its long history began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in Portugal. Starting out in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly set up a business that would prove prosperous and promising. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a pivotal figure in the world of wine, recognised as one of the most important personalities who has worked and continues to work for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also preparing his own legacy with those who are always crafting irreverent wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort collaborates on many other projects, across practically all Portuguese wine regions and some overseas ones. The bottling year may not correspond to the image presented.
