In 1730 Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, initially trading in grain. By 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port to Europe and the British Isles. Generations later, they were renowned for the rigor and expertise they devoted to Port, elevating the Burmester name to the pinnacle of quality and international acclaim. Burmester is now seen as a harvest specialist, consistently delivering magnificent vintages. Their Vintage Ports, however, remain of exceptional quality, shining in the best years.
