The Kopke, a German family, settled in Lisbon in 1636, where Nicolau Kopke served as General Consul of the Hanseatic League. In 1638 his son Christiano Kopke established himself in Porto as a merchant and exporter of Portuguese goods, marking the start of regional wine exports. With nearly 400 years in the market, Kopke is recognized as the oldest port‑wine brand and the undisputed leader in the “Colheita” category. The bottling year may not correspond to the image shown.
