In the national wine landscape, there is no more widely recognised producer than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in Portugal. By entering the port wine market as a merchant, he quickly set up a business that proved prosperous and fruitful. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born – an unmistakable figure in the wine world, celebrated as one of the most important personalities who has worked and continues to work for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also building his own legacy with those who constantly craft irreverent wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort takes part in many other projects, spanning practically all Portuguese wine regions and a few overseas ones. The bottling year may not match the image shown.
