In the national wine panorama, there is no producer more widely agreed upon than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in Portugal. Starting out in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly established a business that would prove prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the 5th generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, becoming an indispensable figure in the wine world, recognized as one of the most important personalities to work for—and continue to work on—Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helped them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also building his own legacy with those who are always creating irreverent wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort collaborates on many other projects, in practically all national wine regions and some foreign ones.
