The Vintage designation is the highest classification that can be awarded to a port wine. A Vintage port is made from grapes harvested in a single year and from a single vineyard (usually of the same variety), and the designation is granted only in years deemed to be of exceptional quality. It is aged in a barrel for a maximum of two and a half years, after which it is bottled and aged in the bottle. The bottling year may not match the image shown (the image is purely illustrative).
