Young entrepreneur Manuel María González began his career in wine as a trader, partnering with Juan Bautista Dubosc and Francisco Gutiérrez de Agüera. Given his company’s success, he quickly moved into production under the guidance of his maternal uncle, José Ángel. In his honour, he christened the founding solera “Solera del Tío Pepe.” Thus began the legend of the world’s most famous Jerez, which in 1854, just 20 years after its founding, became one of the most renowned references and the first Jerez wine exporter in Spain. Today, with vineyards in various parts of the globe, the fifth generation keeps the business in family hands and exports its products to more than 100 countries.
