In the national wine panorama there is no producer more consensual than Niepoort, and its long history began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in Portugal. By entering the Port wine market as a trader, he quickly set up his business, which would prove to be prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation Dirk Niepoort was born—a formidable producer in the world of wines, recognized as one of the most important figures who has worked—and continues to work—on behalf of Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helped them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, and likewise has prepared his legacy with those who are always creating irreverent wines.
