The company was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who managed it until 1973. Today, the management of Caves Messias remains with the Messias family descendants. Since its inception, Messias has produced and marketed wines from the main demarcated regions: Dão, Bairrada, Douro, Vinho Verde, Beiras, and Porto Wine.
