In Portugal’s wine landscape, there is no more universally respected producer than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in the country. Starting out in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly set up a business that proved prosperous and fruitful. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—an indispensable figure in the world of wine, recognised as one of the most important personalities who has worked and continues to work for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also crafting his own legacy with those who continually create bold, irreverent wines.
