Everything began in 1918, when Manoel Domingues Poças Jr.—born in the midst of the bustling Port wine scene—decided to start his own business. At about 30 years old, Manoel already had some industry experience, and together with his uncle he founded a company that supplied brandies to major Port wine producers. Years later, he established the company’s headquarters in Vila Nova de Gaia, where it remains to this day. The entire Poças family has shared a passion for wine, blending respect for tradition with an openness to the innovations brought by new generations. Today, with three estates in the finest locations of the Demarcated Region of the Douro, Poças has full control over the quality of its wines.
