It all started in 1918, when Manoel Domingues Poças Jr., born in the midst of the Port wine frenzy, decided to launch his own business. At about 30 years old, Manoel Poças already had some industry experience, and together with his uncle he founded a company that supplied brandy to major Port wine producers. Years later he moved the company’s headquarters to Vila Nova de Gaia, where it has remained ever since. The entire Poças family came to share their passion for wine, blending reverence for tradition with an open mind toward the innovations of newer generations. Today, with three estates in the finest locations of the Douro Demarcated Region, Poças has full control over the quality of its wines.
