In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the grain trade. Later, in 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation, they distinguished themselves by the rigor and expertise they devoted to Port wine, elevating the Burmester name to the highest level of quality and international recognition. Burmester can be considered a specialist in harvests, with magnificent yields at its disposal that it regularly releases. Yet its Port vintages remain of excellent quality, showcasing their splendor in outstanding vintage years. At the close of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to immortalise brands created five centuries ago.
