The company was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who ran it until 1973. Today, the Messias family still manages Caves Messias. Since its inception, Messias has produced and marketed wines from Portugal’s principal demarcated regions: Dão, Bairrada, Douro, Vinho Verde, Beiras, and Port wine.
