Founded in 1859 by António Alves Cálem, Porto Cálem remained in the same family for four generations and has always focused on producing high‑quality Port wines, earning worldwide recognition. Its famous “Velhotes” Port range, launched in 1934, brought national prominence and made it Portugal’s top‑selling brand, with more than three million bottles sold each year.
