Founded in 1850 by the patriarch of a Portuguese family, Manoel da Rocha Romariz, the Romariz house initially focused on trade with Brazil and former Portuguese colonies, eventually expanding into England and establishing itself on the domestic market as a benchmark brand for quality wine production. In 1966, it was acquired by Guimaraens & Cia., which prioritized the national market to consolidate the brand. However, in 1987, it came under the ownership of an English group, which concentrated on developing and realizing the potential of Porto Reserva Latina, which today is the true brand image of the Romariz house.
