The wines of Quinta do Infantado are produced, aged and bottled on the Estate, located on the north bank of the Douro, near Pinhão, in the sub-region of Gontelho, long known for the excellence of its vineyards. At the end of the 19th century, the Estate was acquired by João Lopes Roseira, ancestor of the current administrators. Since the acquisition of the property, the Roseira family has progressively expanded the vineyard area and specialized in the production and ageing of fine wines. In 1979, sales began of the first Quinta Port wines, reviving a very old tradition that had been lost for more than 50 years. The Quinta has about 23 hectares of vineyards, rated with the highest classification in the Douro Demarcated Region. Drawing inspiration from this distinction, the estate has refined traditional lagar foot-treading techniques and, taking advantage of the excellent grapes produced here, has created natural Port wines of the highest quality.
