Quinta do Estanho Vintage 1997 is an exceptional Port wine, produced from grapes grown on the steep schist slopes of the Pinhão River valley. Aged in large French oak vats, it offers an intense, enveloping aroma of ripe red fruit and liquorice. On the palate it is full-bodied and robust, with notes of blackberry and raspberry, well-integrated tannins, and a long, persistent finish that reflects the nobility of this historic vintage. Quinta do Estanho is mentioned in the first viticultural demarcation of the Douro, known as the "De Feitoria," which dates from 1757. It lies on the left bank of the Pinhão River, at an average altitude of 300 metres, and has produced quality wines for several generations. Its owner, Jaime Acácio Queiroz Cardoso, became in 1987 the second producer, bottler and exporter in the entire Douro region, selling his wines directly to the Portuguese and international markets.
