Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes, with the ambition of introducing Portuguese wines to the world and a long-term vision built on the quality of the wines it markets, the importance of brand innovation, and the presentation of its wines. Today led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos is increasingly faithful to its founding goal: to be a family-owned company with an international vocation, focused on producing quality wines, innovating, and developing Portuguese brands of global standing. Sogrape Vinhos owns about 830 hectares of vineyards in Portugal. Offley was founded in London in 1737 by William Offley as a wine trading house. The company quickly began exporting wines and later produced its own Port wine, earning worldwide recognition as a producer of wines of great quality. The decisive moment for the company's rise came when Joseph James Forrester joined as a partner. Known as the Baron of Forrester, he played a key role in growing the international trade of Port wine and was the first person to map the Douro River and valley, which earned him recognition and admission to several geographical and arts societies across Europe.
