The House of Sandeman was founded in London in 1790 by George Sandeman, a young Scot from Perth who decided to invest £300—borrowed from his father—to launch a business trading Port and Jerez wines. Always pioneering, Sandeman was the first company to fire‑mark a barrel with its name, guaranteeing the quality of the wine it sold. Over more than two centuries, Sandeman has built its success on a rare capacity for innovation and a generational legacy of expertise. Today, under the Portuguese company Sogrape Vinhos, Sandeman proudly positions itself as the world’s leading brand of Port and Jerez, signing off with the motto: “Sandeman, Famous for Pleasure.” The bottling year may not correspond to the image presented (illustrative only).
