2000, the first year of the 21st century, was a very demanding vintage, yielding a small but excellent harvest. After two decades of bottle ageing, this Porto Vintage—whiffing of plum and cassis—offers a wonderfully complex palate where cherry and fig shine, finishing with the characteristic dryness of Dow’s. For over two centuries the name Dow’s has been synonymous with one of the finest Port wines. Throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, the Symington generations have worked at Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, producing from those vines wines that are superbly concentrated, intense, and tannic when young, and with ageing develop elegance and a perfume of violet and mint.
