Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes, with the ambition of introducing Portuguese wines to the world and a long-term vision built on the quality of the wines it sells, the importance of brand innovation, and the presentation of its wines. Today led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos is increasingly faithful to its goal, set from the outset: to be a family-run company with an international vocation, focused on producing quality wines, on innovation, and on developing Portuguese brands of global standing. Sogrape Vinhos owns around 830 hectares of vineyards in Portugal. Offley, founded in London in 1737 by William Offley, initially as a wine trading house, quickly began exporting wines and later producing its own Port wine, earning the brand worldwide recognition as a producer of wines of great quality. The decisive moment in the company's rise came when Joseph James Forrester joined as a partner. Known as the Baron of Forrester, he played a fundamental role in growing the international trade in Port wine and was the first person to map the Douro river and valley, earning him recognition and membership in several geographical and arts societies across Europe.
