In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, initially a grain trading company. By 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation they have distinguished themselves with the rigor and knowledge devoted to Port, elevating the Burmester name to the highest levels of quality and international recognition. Burmester can be seen as a specialist in harvests, boasting magnificent vintages at its disposal and releasing them regularly. Their Port Vintages remain of excellent quality, showcasing their splendor in the best years. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to immortalise brands created five centuries ago.
