Since 1751, Ferreira has always been synonymous with high‑quality Portuguese wine. The brand’s history intertwines with the evolution of the Demarcated Douro Region, established in 1756, and its Port and still wines. Years later, the family business was taken over by Antónia Adelaide, widow of António Bernardo II. Known for her exceptional energy and rare commercial talent, she gave a significant boost to viticulture in the Douro and developed a notable social assistance program in the region. After her death, the company became a limited partnership and entered a new phase of expansion, always preserving its core values. These values have carried Ferreira to the present day and were instrumental in creating legendary wines such as the Barca Velha in the 1950s. Since 1987, under the management of Sogrape Vinhos, the company has led the national Port wine market and introduced prestigious brands such as Quinta da Leda.
