The Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most well‑known estates in the Douro, stands out for having been one of the first to bottle its own branded wines. The estate’s name has been recorded since April 17, 1738, when a dated document first referenced the “Quinta da Pacheca,” owned by D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. It wasn’t until 1903, however, that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing interest in enology, buying the property with the aim of dedicating himself to wine production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family—Maria, Catarina, and José—takes the reins of the estate, bringing a youthful, family‑driven spirit to the venture.
