Nothing could stop Jorge Serôdio Borges and Sandra Tavares da Silva from making their own wine—a product of their professional experience and partnership. The talented couple founded Wine & Soul in 2001, at the same time as they acquired 2.5 hectares of old vines—over 70 years old and planted with dozens of indigenous Douro varieties—which would become their first wine, named Pintas. The name comes from the fact that both of them would return home from a day in the vineyard or at the cellar with countless spots of must on their shirts. Today, Pintas is one of Portugal’s most celebrated wines and a true symphony of old‑vine terroir. Their aim is to create wines that fully express the character of the old vines and indigenous Douro grapes, balancing concentration, complexity and elegance.
