The Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most well‑known estates in the Douro, stands out for being among the first to bottle its own branded wines. Its name appears in records as early as 17 April 1738, when a dated document first mentions the “da Pacheca” Quinta, owned at the time by D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. It wasn’t until 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel, driven by a growing passion for enology, purchased the property with the goal of dedicating himself to wine production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family—Maria, Catarina, and José—runs the estate, bringing a fresh, family‑driven spirit to the venture.
