In the national wine landscape, there is no producer more widely respected than Niepoort, and its long history began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in Portugal. As a merchant in the Port wine market, he quickly set up his business, which would prove prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a prominent figure in the wine world, recognized as one of the most influential personalities who has worked, and continues to work, for the benefit of Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and better understand their vineyards, while also shaping his own legacy alongside those who are constantly creating bold, irreverent wines.
