Starting out as a Port wine merchant, he quickly set up a thriving business that would prove prosperous for generations. In the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort emerged as an influential figure in the wine world, recognized as one of the most important personalities working for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them refine their wines and understand their vines, while also building his own legacy with those who constantly create daring wines.
