In the national wine panorama there is no producer more universally respected than Niepoort, and the long story began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in Portugal. Starting out in the Port wine market as a trader, he quickly established a business that would prove prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation Dirk Niepoort was born, becoming an influential figure in the world of wine, recognised as one of the most important personalities devoted to Portuguese wine. He has worked with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while simultaneously building his own legacy with those who always create daring wines.
