In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the grain trade. Later, in 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. Over successive generations, they distinguished themselves through the rigor and expertise they devoted to Port, raising the Burmester name to the highest level of quality and international recognition. Burmester can be seen as a specialist in harvests, with magnificent yields at its disposal that it regularly releases. Yet its Vintage Ports remain of excellent quality, shining in exceptional years. At the close of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to perpetuate brands created five centuries ago. The bottling year may not match the image presented.
