Within Portugal’s wine landscape, there is no producer more widely accepted than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 with the arrival of the first Van Der Niepoort in the country. Starting out in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly established his business, which proved prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a prominent figure in the world of wine, recognized as one of the most important personalities who has worked—and continues to work—toward Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also building his own legacy with those who are constantly creating irreverent wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort is involved in many other projects, across almost all Portuguese wine regions and some abroad. The bottling year may not correspond to the image shown.
