Quinta dos Poços is situated in the World Heritage zone of the Douro Demarcated Region, within the Baixo Corgo subregion, in the village of Valdigem, Lamego municipality. It is one of the oldest estates in the area, and its main house is a typical 18th‑century rural farmstead. The French troops of Brigade General Loison, nicknamed “Maneta,” were stationed there during the first Napoleonic invasion in 1808. Today the estate is owned by the family of Prof. Dr. José Manuel da Costa Mesquita Guimarães, and its total area covers 25 hectares dedicated to vineyards planted with the region’s traditional grape varieties.
