The Niepoort LBV Porto is the result of a careful selection of wines that age for several years before bottling, in a category created to deliver the complexity of a Port with prolonged maturation while still being ready to drink when it hits the market. Aromatically it offers a bouquet of fresh figs and a subtle floral character, blended with vibrant red fruits. Menthol undertones add a refreshing quality and a gentle spicy nuance that deepens the overall expression. On the palate it begins with an enveloping sweetness, revealing layers of fruit that gradually evolve into a drier, spiced finish. Balanced acidity provides freshness and support to its elegant structure, presenting a profile that is simultaneously bold, delicate, and complex, with flavors unfolding harmoniously from start to finish. In the national wine landscape there is no more consensual producer than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in Portugal. Beginning in the Port wine market as a trader, he quickly established a business that would prove prosperous and enduring. In the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, an indomitable producer in the wine world, recognized as one of the most important figures who has worked—and continues to work—toward Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also preparing his own legacy with those who constantly create bold wines.
