The House of Sandeman was founded in London in 1790 by George Sandeman, a young Scottish man from Perth who decided to invest £300—borrowed from his father—in setting up a business trading Port wine and Jerez. Always a pioneer, Sandeman was the first company to brand a fire barrel with its name, guaranteeing the quality of the wine it sold. Over more than two centuries, Sandeman has based its success on a rare capacity for innovation and the expertise passed down from generation to generation. Today, led by the Portuguese company Sogrape Vinhos, Sandeman clearly positions itself as the worldwide brand of Port wine and Jerez, proudly signing: “Sandeman, Famous for Pleasure.” The bottling year may not match the image presented.
