According to its age, the wines may show signs left by time, such as dust on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels, something common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Wine Cellar ensures that all wines are stored at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We generally select the regions that usually perform well in old wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas are subject to different evolutions. Therefore, the National Wine Cellar cannot be held responsible for the quality of the wine, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe beforehand, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years sealed. Avoid decanting, as this may be an overly aggressive operation for old wines. (image purely illustrative)
