This Adega Mãe Terroir wine is a wonderfully realised promise – a result of a 2016 harvest and three years of maturation that’s packed with surprising complexity. Predominantly Viosinho, it’s beautifully complemented by Arinto and, of course, the unmistakable presence of Alvarinho, the iconic Anselmo Mendes variety. The winemaking, with extensive barrel aging in new French oak, delivers a rich, full-bodied wine with a powerful acidity that keeps it wonderfully lively, finishing with a delightful saline note reminiscent of the sea. Seriously, it deserves to be shared with a fantastic grilled fish or some freshly shucked shellfish.
