This wine, hailing from the Alentejo’s clay-calcareous slopes, clearly demanded some time in the bottle. The Touriga Nacional and Petit Verdot, with their assertive character, have, after 18 months in new French oak and a further 26, delivered a complexity that even the discerning 18-point wine journal was eager to recognise. Expect a powerful mouthfeel, intense tannins and a lingering finish – a truly impressive wine that would partner beautifully with roasted red meats like trout or a hearty beef stew.
