Description

Founded in 1927 by 11 partners led by Domingos Silva and Ângelo Neves in Sangalhos (Anadia), Aliança now boasts over 80 years of history. It began exporting immediately to Brazil, Africa, and Europe, and today more than 50 % of its production is earmarked for export—primarily wines, sparkling wines, and brandies—making Aliança a recognised brand in Portugal and in roughly 60 countries where it ships. In 2007, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal acquired a majority stake in Aliança, bringing it under the Bacalhôa Group; the legal name of Caves Aliança S.A. was changed to Aliança Vinhos de Portugal S.A., at which point the company also updated its corporate image. Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, one of Portugal’s largest and most innovative wine companies, has developed over the years a wide range of wines that have earned it a solid reputation and the preference of both national and international consumers. With a presence in seven Portuguese wine regions, covering 1,200 ha of vineyards, 40 estates, 40 different grape varieties, and four wine centres (cellars), the company distinguishes itself in the market by its size and by owning 70 % of its own production.
