This Alves de Sousa Caldas Reserva is clearly the result of a rather fervent approach – painstakingly crafted entirely from Douro Touriga Nacional. The hand-vinification, closely monitored fermentation, and extended maceration really coax out a deep extraction of colour and flavour. After a seven-month maturation in French oak, it reveals itself as a refined, fruit-driven wine with notes of ripe red berries and a subtle spice. Perfect with duck or grilled beef, if you will.
