This “Anel do Douro” is certainly a wine that doesn’t pull any punches. Initial aromas of gunpowder and phosphorus hint at a remarkable intensity, and the lingering notes of ginger and wild meadow flowers suggest a wine that truly develops with age. Expect bursts of citrus – particularly lemon – alongside a characteristic nervosity, thanks to the blend of Viosinho, Gouveio, Rabigato and Verdelho. Seriously, it’s a surprisingly complex wine – fantastic with grilled white fish or leaner white meats.
